Remember dodgeball in school?

Hi, I’m Martin — and this all started because I missed my friends.

Not just the ones I used to play dodgeball with abroad, but the feeling of belonging — of showing up, laughing, and hurling foam balls at each other (nicely, of course).

Like many of us, I hadn’t played dodgeball since school. But while living abroad, I found a group that welcomed me in. It was fast, fun, a little chaotic — and surprisingly heartwarming. Every week, I left sweaty and smiling, feeling like I’d just made ten new friends.

When I came back to Groningen, I missed that. The people. The play. The easy way strangers became teammates.

So I bought some foam balls, rented a gym, and invited whoever I could think of. It was messy and unstructured — and completely joyful. That was the beginning of Gron’s Dodgeball.

Now we play every week with a growing community of students, locals, and internationals. We move, we laugh, and we create space for new friendships to spark — every single time.

Whether you’re super fit or slightly rusty — you’re welcome.

Hope to meet you on the court.
